   An introduction to laboratory work in the life sciences. Project-based, with field work as well as laboratory experiments, designed to show the scope of biology and how molecular biology and bioinformatics techniques connect with organismal and ecological biology.

2. BIOL-216

   Molecular Biology Laboratory Undergraduate

   1 credit

   The fundamental concepts of molecular biology, approached through the bench. Students complement their understanding of core concepts by implementing and practicing the laboratory techniques molecular biologists actually use.

3. BIOL-530 / 630

   Bioinformatics Algorithms Undergraduate and graduate

   3 credits

   The analyses, tools and databases commonly used in bioinformatics. Labs apply the lecture material to the analysis of real data through computer programming.

4. ENVS-790

   Environmental Science Thesis Graduate

   1–4 credits

   Faculty-mentored thesis research for environmental science graduate students, from proposal through written thesis and oral defense.

5. ENVS-791

   Continuation of Thesis Graduate

   1 credit

   Continuation of ongoing thesis research.

6. ENVS-795

   Environmental Science Graduate Research Graduate

   1–4 credits

   Faculty-directed research of an original nature, involving laboratory or field work, computer modeling, or theoretical calculations.
